Once you get the secret to playing “Unconscious Golf” the game gets a lot easier and more fun. This is a segment from a talk I did on the mental game for a grand opening of a new range at my home course in Bellevue WA. If you’ve heard this from me before, towards the end, I give you something new that I’ve been teaching all my athletes with great success…
Tell me what you think it is in the comments and I’ll tell you if you’re right and give you the answer there.
thanx we enjoyed that Craig…….
do not blame ourselves about technical side but mental side not connected.
Very good Mike, that’s the main point but the subtle point that is new, is HOW to connect. I kind of glossed over it in the video but will talk more about it.

Craig
Loved the first nine minutes – will we get access to the entire talk that you presented?
Hi Ray,
yes, I have to edit it so that it’s in useful chunks. Stay tuned. Glad you liked it!
Greens and Fairways,
Craig
Love your work
Thanks John!
get me connected would love to hear more thanks Don
You bet, thanks for comment Don.
Greens and Fairways,
Craig
Preshot routine and taking the time to do it is key here. If you link preshot routine to good shots then I feel you have unlocked that barrier.
Nice Charlie, I like it.
The best way to connect to your automatic, consistent mind is to assume you are connecting to it when you intend to do so…
The connection to the mental side is a must.
how do we get the connection good bit of info Craig
I will talk more about this later but here’s the way I teach to make that connection:
1. A moment of relaxing the muscles and/or a few deep releasing breaths
2. Intend to make the connection and assume you are when communicating
3. Use metaphors such as imagining your inner mind as another “You”
4. Activate your imagination as you do in daydreaming
greens and fairways,
Craig
Thanks again Craig. Your thoughts help explain why my best shots require no effort and Im just nice and relaxed. Watching the outcome rather than trying to force it to happen. Mike
You bet Mike. You are on the verge of something big here…go with it…
Greens and Fairways,
Craig
my middle name is Craig, so I call my unconscious mind “Craig” which helps me connect to you also. I then give Craig permission to take over the swing but he doesn’t speak any language. I show him how I want the shot to look and where the ball will end up. When I’m in the zone, I know the shot will be perfect before I hit it. That only happens occasionally like when I 1-putted the last 10 holes to win a match in the Michigan Am. I didn’t realize I had done that until my opponent said it on the radio, or when I set a course record with a 64, 40 years ago. I still remember how I knew every putt was going in before I hit it.
So my answer, which may not match yours, is to picture what I want to happen (not how to do it) and then try to get out of my own way and let Craig take over. Thanks for all you’ve done for me, I think I’ve been buying and buying into your stuff for over 10 years. You and Gio Valente are my mind doctors.
That’s awesome Barry, I love it and thank you for the compliment. Always remember, you did this work! You have big momentum, keep it going…

Craig
