Some Myths In Golf Instruction Make The Likelihood Of Being A Good Putter Almost Impossible…

Golf instruction is simply outdated and incorrect when it comes to the “flat stick”.

It is simply misinformation. Virtually nobody correctly studies the exact science regarding putting mechanics and applied bio-mechanical principles.

In fact, there are 8 myths that most golfers believe, that actually keep

  1. Dr. Karl says:

There is an optimal and balanced overall configuration for any and all folks with a ‘Putter ‘ in hand. The Putter MUST fit the individual … Length, Loft Lie and Grip Size. Many ‘Putters’ are too long, hence the ‘Lie Angle’ and ‘Ball Location’ are no longer ‘Optimal’. There are very few hard and fast rules involved in using the ‘Flat Stick’. ‘Putting and Chipping’ are very similar in mechanics. One must be comfortable in the ‘Set-Up’ or the ‘Execution’ shall be compromised. ‘Keep IT Simple so IT can be consistent.’ Have FUN!

I would like to improve my putting. I three put a lot

      Thanks for comment Bhawan,
Andy Gorman is your man. If you haven’t figured out what his main theme is, it’s to putt with as natural of a motion as our body is built for so you don’t have to force anything. It’s about going along with your body’s contours instead of fighting them.

  4. Corrine Evans says:

I want to STOP 3 putting..

    • Craig Sigl says:

I hear you Corrine. (That was my mom’s name, by the way). There are as many ways to putt as their are instructors. If Andy’s explanation resonates with you and makes sense, consider looking at his programs. I personally back him up if anyone has a customer service issue.

      Greens and Fairways,

      Craig

  5. Roland says:

In his putting bible book Dave Pelz gives an excellent reason why the eyes should be over the ball. It helps the look of the line of putt to the target to look the same for different lengths of putt. I fully understand and accept his reasoning. Sorry

    • Craig Sigl says:

Hi Roland, Sorry about delay in response to your comment here. I hear you. I personally follow the advice of eyes over the ball. I just like to present countering points…not to confuse or show conflicting advice, but to empower golfers to do what works for them. Everyone is different. There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to golf…that’s for sure!!!
      Greens and Fairways,

      Craig
