Consistency part 3 – Confidence On The Course

“When you make a good shot without conscious mental application, it is because Oscar has seen fit to hit the ball for you. This is why your ball travels much longer and straighter flight than usual. These occasional good shots can be made regular by letting Oscar make all of your swings.” Alex J. Morrison

“I finally realized after yet another round that “shoulda been” in the 70’s, that all of my bad shots and balloon scores can be traced back to an emotional breakdown.” Blog post by average golfer.

Is there a connection? Yes…and you can change it with mental practice. Watch to be convinced.

Hi Craig…. have been in your old situation for quite a while now, tried everything and it has got to the state that i could walk away from the whole thing tommorrow. I was a body builder up to starting on this road, fit, strong and extremely fanatic and have the same motivation for golf butlike everyone, a good round followed by crap. My hope is that you know what you are doing and it gets me results before i walk away and find something else to do. Thanks, Chris

Thanks for commenting Chris! I’ll do my best for you. Golf is a strange sport. Most other sports, you can just put your nose to the grindstone, workout harder, get stronger, etc and results will come in. With golf, there’s a delicate balance between working hard…and letting go of control. Hope you find it in my trainings. Always here to answer questions.

Tried to access your video 4 in this series and got a “page not found” response. Is the link broken or incorrect?

    • Craig Sigl says:

      Hi Warren,
Video #4 is primarily a sales video for my product: Shortcut secrets to consistent golf. I’m holding everyone off on that. Big sale for my birthday Aug 3rd. Stand by, I’m going to do everyone way better than the standard offer.

Very interesting ……. I wonder if my mate Michael knows Oscar! I look forward to the next video so that I can piece it all together. Enjoying this and your other short cuts. How is the video #3 in the range to course coming along?

    • Craig Sigl says:

      Hi John,
I GUARANTEE Oscar knows your Michael!! They all live in a parallel universe where all of our perfect golfers get together and tell jokes about us and laugh and laugh…hahahaa.

  4. Terry says:

The other day, one of my golfing buddies said: “It’s quite amazing how much effect your sub-conscious mind has on your thoughts on the course”. I thought about this for a while and I think it is rather profound!

    • Craig Sigl says:

Thanks for commenting Terry, it’s so true. You can’t golf with your conscious mind…the subconscious controls 95% of everything we do on the course.

      Craig

  5. Eric Mayhew says:

hi Craig , where would one find the Morrison Keys that you talk about, thanks

    • Craig Sigl says:

Hi Eric, The Keys are in the book I mentioned. I wouldn’t worry about them. It’s the same stuff we get from every golf pro…good basic fundamentals. Nothing tricky. I advocate finding the swing instructor you connect with best and ignore the rest.

    Craig,
I have watched Consistency Part 1,2, &3, but did not receive or accidently deleted part 4. Very good stuff. I am 63 now and use to be a 3 to 6 handicap. I broke a bone in my left hand (playing golf by just free swinging)when I was 59. It has been a struggle regaining consistency. After watching several of your vidios, I had a streak where I scored from 70 to 77 for about a month. I’m all into the unconscious mind thing. I have the yips too. Could you get me that 4th video. I am really working on this, it is the real deal.
    Thanks,
    Bill Burks

could you please talk less and instruct more.I like your book
    Hope for improvement

Tanks for your videos regarding the uncousious mind. I have struggled the last WTO seasons with my golf and have gone up from 15,6 to 16,6 on hq from last summer. I have tried to change my swing and spent a lot of Hours at the driving range but nothing seems to help. I think mental training can be the right thing for me after listen to your. 3 videos on the subjekt. Now i am anxious to learn more and are looking forward to your next videos.
    Kjell

    • Craig Sigl says:

Thanks for comment Kjell. I think you are on the right track. There is such a thing as “The law of diminishing returns” and it definitely applies to improving a swing.

Loved the first two videos. I cannot get the third one to moe past the beginning. Any help available?

    Thanks,

    • Craig Sigl says:

Sorry about your trouble. Video delivery is a tricky thing. Try accessing it at other times of day. Sometimes a local connection gets clogged with too many users in a neighborhood. Try a different browser. Try a different location or computer.

  11. Brian Pooley says:

The other day I had one of those perfect games, that is for me.My lowest score ever but I didn’t break 80. I am not capable of hitting long second or third shots because of physical problems therefore any score in the 80’s is someone elses breaking 80. I was on auto pilot and my friends, who do shoot in the 70’s remarked that I was out of control. Had a better score than any of them and then went out the next day and flubbed everything. Started to over think and let the little gremlins gain control again. Now know it can be done as long as I put it on auto pilot. Thanks for showing us how to achieve this state of mind.—–Brian

  12. Craig Sigl says:

Brian, that “automatic pilot” you triggered is your power! So happy to hear about your achievement there. That’s the key. You can summon it more and more with these tools. Let me know how it goes.

  13. David says:

    Hi Craig,
I used your 3′ putting drill yesterday on an unfamiliar course and it worked a treat. Sank all including some longer putts. Thanks!

  14. Rich says:

    Craig,

I have been having quite a bit of good luck getting my inner-golfer to take over my swings and have seen some great improvement. Thanks for the help.

My question is this … When “I” want my “Oscar Perfect” to go for the green in two on a par 5 and have this feeling I should be laying up, how can I tell if it’s “Oscar Perfect” telling me to lay up or just my fears. (By the way, I’ve gone for it a few times … Oscar hit this great shot only to fall a bit short and put me in a hazard. Had I laid up, I quite possibly have gotten a bird or par instead of that bogey/double bogey).

    Keep up the great work!

    • Craig Sigl says:

Rich, that is a great question. It could very well be your true Oscar Perfect telling you to lay up because of actual situations in the past just like it that didn’t turn out so well….and Oscar is just reminding you of that with that feeling. The key here, is to certainly acknowledge that feeling, but then use your conscious mind to make the decision. Your conscious mind is the part of our mind that gets to choose and make decisions. Your conscious mind needs to be strong about it once it makes a decision one way or another. I once read from, maybe it was Nicklaus or Player or Floyd that: “It’s better to be decisive than it is to be right.” In other words, at those times of choice, commitment to the choice is all important…and not whether or not you followed the “right” choice. Oscar Perfect is just giving you information through those feelings to help you choose.
      greens and fairways,

      Craig

    • Craig Sigl says:

      Hi Carl,

I feel your pain and have had stretches where I do just the opposite, chunk everything. I’m guessing you have used various drills to correct the issue? The way I go back to solid contact when this happens is I actually pretend swing a club (no actual club) with my head leaning against a wall (with a pillow between my head and the wall). I focus on the feeling of turning while keeping my body from bobbing up and down. Does that make sense?
      Craig
